Shah Rukh Khan who is known as the most popular actor in the world representing the most popular Bollywood turned 55 on 2nd Nov 2020.  How can we not capture the facts about Shah Rukh on the occasion:


Studied well to prepare for future:

Shah Rukh Khan is from the Capital-Delhi and was very active in Theatre during his college days.

He studied from Hansraj College with degree in Economics and later joined Jamia Milia Islamia to pursue Mass Communication.

He spent most of his time with the Delhi Theatre Action Group where he studied acting under the mentorship of legendry Acting Trainer Barry John

Filmi Chakkar:

Shah Rukh started his TV career with Dil Dariya and was first seen on TV with ‘Fauji’ where he found love from audience.

And then did multiple TV serials namely Circus, Idiot, Umeed and Wagle kee Duniya. He was happy with the TV world as he thought he wasn’t meant for Movies.

But then he moved to Mumbai in 1991 and got his first movie break with Dil Aashna Hai directed by Hema Malini, whereas his first release was Dewaana which was up in theatres six months before Dil Aashna Hai and turned out to be a blockbuster and got Shah Rukh Khan his first Filmfare Award as Best Male Debut.


Risk Taker:

Shah Rukh is a man who doesn’t shy away from taking risks.

He was the first main lead established Protagonist who took the risk of playing Anti-Hero in films like Baazigar and Darr released in the same month of December 1993. He managed to win the hearts of audience even in the Negative Roles. He also did a negative role in the movie of 1994 called Anjaam which garnered him the Best Villain Award thats Best Performance in a Negative Role.

He also played the Negative Role in Don-the Chase begins again in 2006 and Don 2-the king is back in 2011.

Record Maker-the King of Bollywood:

Shah Rukh Khan has won 15 Filmfare Awards (the oldest film awards given by the Times of India Group) every year, a Padma Shri by the Government of India, Ordre des Arts des Letters  and Legion of Honour by the Government of France.

He has been nominated in 338 times and won 297 awards till date.

He was also awarded the ‘Best Citizen Award’ in 1997 by the Government of India.

According to a popularity survey, Shah Rukh Khan is known to more than half the world population and no other star is near that number.

His movie ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ is till date the longest running film in the history of Indian Cinema. The film was released on 20th Oct 1995 and is still running in a theatre in Mumbai. And the amazing fact is he did not read the script of the movie as he as in love with craft of Shri Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra.

An established actor, a thriving businessman:

Shah Rukh Khan owns multiple businesses. He owns 55% of the Cricket Team Kolkata Knight Riders of the Indian Premier League.

Shah Rukh Khan makes approximately Rs.150 crores from KKR every year, he owns 26% stake in Kidzania and 100% of Red Chillies Entertainment that produces films and does post production work as well.  He has invested in properties worldwide.

SRK’s unqiue style:

Shah Rukh Khan does everything in style. While is one of the most expensive actors to cast, he did not charge a single penny for working in Kamal Hassan’s. He said one does not take money to have got the privilege to work with the legend like Kamal Hassan.

Unlike other Stars Shah Rukh has agreed to play himself in many movies in order to help his friends from the industry, he played himself in M.F. Hussain’s ‘Gaja Gamini’, in Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Luck by Chance’, in ‘Love Breakups Zindagi’ and Makrand Deshpande’s ‘Shah Rukh Bola Khoosurat hai tu’- a film about flower selling girl who accidently meets Shah Rukh Khan.

In total, he has done 26 cameos. Definitely a style apart.

Shah Rukh Khan is known to be very chivalrous. He once gifted all his female staff members with a Red Rose, Gold Lockets and high end Smart Phone.

Shah Rukh Khan was the only dancer in the famous song ‘Chaiyaan Chaiyaan’ from the movie ‘Dil Se’ who was not tied. Rest all the dancers were tied to the top of the train.

555 is his favourite number, be it his cars, Mobile numbers or any possible device that has number.

In 1994, he sold the tickets from the booking window of a Cinema Hall in Mumbai for his film ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ directed by Kundan Shah for which he was paid Rs.25, 000 for the film. The movie is one of the most critically acclaimed movies of Shah Rukh Khan.

Shah Rukh Khan’s roots:

Shah Rukh Khan spent his early life in Delhi before moving to Mumbai in 1991. Hi father was a freedom fighter and his mother was the daughter of a senior government Engineer.

His Parent got married in 1959 and gave birth to Shah Rukh on 2nd Nov 1965.

Shah Rukh describes himself as half Hyderabadi (mother was from Hyderabad) and half Kashmiri (father was a Kashmiri)

The Richest of all:

Shah Rukh Khan ranks among the top 5 richest actors on the world.  His current net worth is more than $600 million.

A journey from $1 that he earned as his first salary for a concert and made a trip to Agra to see Taj Mahal to $600 million net worth with multiple properties across the Globe and multiple businesses that makes him millions year on year.

A sportsman by heart:

Shah Rukh was also involved in Sports and that was the only passion he had other than acting. He was the captain of Hockey and Football teams during his school days.

He could have made his career in Hockey considering he was a very good player.  He even played Cricket at Zonal and National Levels that perhaps is the reason and his interest for him to purchase a cricket team in IPL.
